Ingredients:

  • 1 cup oats, powdered
  • 1/2 cup semolina (sooji)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves, chopped

Recipe:

  1. Dry roast the oats and semolina separately. Once cooled, grind the oats into a fine powder.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the powdered oats, semolina, and yogurt. Add water as needed to form a smooth batter.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds, and let them splutter. Add this to the batter along with salt and coriander leaves.
  4. Just before steaming, add baking soda to the batter and mix gently.
  5. Pour the batter into greased idli molds and steam for 10-12 minutes.
